At the end of the month (or year), have you ever asked yourself “where did all of the money go”? Having a per-determined spending plan is very powerful. It allows you to prioritize and focus on what is important to you because you have the ability to tailor it to your individual financial needs and situation.
Some think that a spending plan is restrictive. It is actually the opposite and is very freeing. Compare it to motor vehicle laws. What if you were allowed to drive on any side of the road you wanted at any time? What if stop signs and stop lights were eliminated? It would be very chaotic and unsafe. You wouldn’t get anywhere fast or possibly never even get to your destination. Having vehicle laws gives us the freedom to travel about relatively safe and efficiently. Having a spending plan gives you a similar freedom.
